Get Outdoors This Autumn
Autumn is at the door! Often ranked as the favorite season for many people—it’s colorful leaves on trees, crunchy walks, apple picking, warm days and cool nights, cozy scarf and sweater weather—it’s pumpkin spice everything season!
While cinnamon spice and pumpkiney goodness can certainly be enjoyed year-round, there’s no other season that equates to this flavor as much as fall does. People are passionate about pumpkin.
Pumpkin Spice Enthusiasm
Whether it’s your favorite season or not, you probably can’t miss the flood of “fall flavor” hitting the scene this time of year. There’s pumpkin spice cereals, granola bars, kettle corn, smoothies, yogurt, lip balm, shampoo, face masks, and believe it or not, even deodorant.
The popularity of this favor craze has made companies like Starbucks bring their strictly-seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte (or PSL) back to their offerings even sooner than “officially autumn”. This drink generates at least $80 million in sales some seasons and outsells their other seasonally offered beverages.
The flavor draws people in, but do they know what they’re drinking?
Bad Ingredients?
Even after removing the artificial coloring in 2015, beyond the caffeine and calories, there’s a massive amount of sugar in this signature drink. Not to mention Starbucks lists potassium sorbate twice in their listed ingredients.
Potassium sorbate is an odorless and tasteless, synthetically produced chemical additive. Yuck!
Pumpkin itself is healthy. And of course so are natural spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, and cardamom. But the dessert-like drinks featured at mega-chain cafes are too often all about the sugar.
While it’s true the body manufactures glucose as a primary source of energy, it is never healthy, nor is there any benefit from consuming processed sugar in your diet! Due to the empty calories, high fat, and sugar contents of common pumpkin spice lattes, they’ve been known to be likened to a liquid pumpkin-spice candy.
People who may not choose to wake up and slam down a piece of cake for breakfast (because that’d be unhealthy), somehow seem to reason out that simply “drinking a flavored coffee” every morning is deemed alright.
Why would you knowingly put poison in your body though?! Plus, how can you do so and expect it to run optionally? It just can’t.
A Healthier Taste
You love the fall season though, right? And how could it be complete without your having that “taste of autumn” as you feel the crisp, cool air and see the leaves change color?
The good news is, you can have the taste of pumpkin spice without all the crazy chemical preservatives, tremendous amounts of sugar, and wasted calorie intake!
Here are some “tastes of the season” we’re going Wild over…
Pumpkin Spice Smoothie – This delicious recipe mixes up our grass-fed Wild Whey protein powder with Wild Vanilla, avocado, pumpkin, and pumpkin pie spice (of course), creating an icy smoothie with the taste of a bright pumpkin patch.
Pumpkin Spice Collagen Smoothie – Not only is this Wild recipe all about the taste of autumn, it’s big on offering an anti-inflammatory boost to your body! Combining our Wild Collagen Peptides with pumpkin puree, pumpkin and flax seeds, coconut milk, and a spice blend including clove, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, and Wild Turmeric, this is a smoothie to “fall for.”
And if those options weren’t already simple enough, go with our newest favorite – Wild Power Plants.
This plant-based protein powder offers a load of nutrients and amino acids in a scoop of flavorful powder you can simply stir, shake, or blend into water, your favorite nut milk, or Wild Coffee.
What’s it taste like? Vanilla chai pumpkin spice!
Around here we don’t wait to enjoy the flavor of fall just for a few weeks a year. To us, Wild Power Plants means enjoying the warm taste of autumn with all the pumpkin benefits year-round. And this mouthwatering flavor is all-natural, so you never have to worry about artificial flavorings or icky aftertaste. It’s just pure pumpkin spice goodness, with zero grams of sugar!
Oh, and if you’re more of a “tea” kind of person, (not totally in love with pumpkin) or can’t wait to wrap up in a blanket by the fireplace with a hot cup of tea in hand, we’ve still got something for you! You’ll want to grab a bag or two of our Wild Coconut Chai Tea.
It’s a caffeine-free blend of red rooibos, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, coconut flakes, safflower, and a bit of crushed chili. Besides the antioxidants and overall nutrition, it’s the perfect cup of tea to taste the spicy flavor of fall without any fake sweeteners or chemical additives. Just natural, Wild nutrition!
We hope you have a great autumn this year, whether that means enjoying a cup of tea or whipping up a batch of keto avocado brownies, or enjoying a scoop of Power Plants into your smoothie after a trail run!
The best time to get outside was yesterday, and the second-best time is today! Get outside and embrace your wildness—your body and mind will thank you.
